Arden Sponsors Ambitious Ashleigh

Arden Wood Shavings is delighted to be sponsoring a promising young Para Dressage rider who has aspirations to reach the very top of her sport.

Sixteen year-old Ashleigh Jones has suffered from Cerebral Palsy since birth, but despite her challenging condition, is proving to be one Britain’s most talented and determined young Para Dressage riders.

Ashleigh, from South Birmingham, is currently the youngest member on the British Equestrian Federation’s Excel Talent Programme; an initiative which recognises and develops talented riders offering potential to represent the UK at the highest level in the future.   And Ashleigh’s success in the saddle has earned her scholarship from the Government funded Talented Athletes Scheme (TASS) which provides assistance towards coaching fees.  Ashleigh receives regular training from Maria Eilberg as part of the Excel Talent Squad.

Her many achievements to date include wins at the RDA National Championships, Hickstead Qualifiers, International 2* events not to mention the winner’s honours at last year’s Talent Spotting contest at Vale View.  These achievements are made all the more impressive given that Ashleigh has right sided Hemiplegia which affects her entire right side of her body with reduced function in her right leg, foot, arm and hand.

Arden, also based in the Midlands, now steps into offer further support to Ashleigh and her talented eight year old Dutch Warmblood mare, Aranka (known as Polly) through the provision of Safemix Equestrian bedding – an ultra-clean blend of high quality, dust-extracted wood shavings and shredded soft woodfibre which is proving extremely popular with professional and recreational horse owners alike.

“We are thrilled with the performance of Safemix bedding provided to us by Arden,” says Ashleigh.  “It is extremely absorbent and easy to muck out.  It lies quite dense allowing the dry bedding to spill through the fork to ensure we don’t waste any. While being nice and soft, it doesn’t fly around everywhere and doesn’t cling to Polly’s mane and tail.  We are really impressed with Safemix.”

Ashleigh certainly is determined to make it to the pinnacle of her sport.  Her ambition is to get onto the World Class programme and ultimately earn a place in the UK Para squad for the 2016 Olympics.

Speaking on the sponsorship agreement, Arden’s managing director, Chris Stanford said, “We are very pleased to be supporting such a gifted young rider, with so many exciting prospects ahead of her.  Ashleigh is a true inspiration.  Her determination is to be admired and we look forward to being part of her on-going success story.”
